SPICY
BLOODY
MARY.
BREAKFAST, TECHNICALLY.
Tomato juice. Vodka. Worcestershire. Lemon. H-06 LIFTOFF.
Contains tomatoes, so we're counting it.
Savoury, sharp and properly spicy, with garlic and ghost pepper
heat running through the whole glass.
Ingredients.
- 45 ml vodka
- 120 ml tomato juice
- 15 ml fresh lemon juice
- 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- ½–1 tsp H-06 LIFTOFF Garlic Ghost Pepper Hot Sauce, to taste
- Pinch of celery salt
- Freshly cracked black pepper
- Ice
- Celery salt
- Lemon wedge
- Celery stalk
- Lemon wedge
- Green olives
Method.
-
01
Prep the glass.
Run a lemon wedge around the rim of a tall glass and dip lightly into celery salt. Fill the glass with ice.
-
02
Build it.
Add the vodka, tomato juice, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce and H-06 LIFTOFF to a cocktail shaker or mixing glass filled with ice.
-
03
Mix.
Roll gently between two glasses or stir thoroughly. Don't shake it to death. We're making a Bloody Mary, not aerating a protein shake.
-
04
Taste.
Add celery salt and freshly cracked black pepper. Taste before adding more H-06. Ghost pepper has opinions.
-
05
Serve.
Pour over fresh ice and garnish with celery, lemon and green olives.
Adjust accordingly.
Milder
Start with ¼–½ teaspoon H-06 and work upwards.
Hotter
Add more H-06 gradually. This isn't a competition.
Bloody Maria
Swap the vodka for blanco tequila.
No alcohol
Leave out the vodka and add another splash of tomato juice. Still breakfast.
Garlic. Ghost pepper.
Problem solved.
A Bloody Mary already wants chilli, garlic, acidity and savoury flavour. H-06 LIFTOFF brings garlic and ghost pepper together in one hit, creating a deeper savoury heat rather than simply making the drink hotter.
H-06 is 8/10 heat, so start small. You can always add more. Removing ghost pepper from a Bloody Mary is considerably more difficult.
