CHIPOTLE
MICHELADA.
COLD BEER. LIME. SMOKE. GOOD DECISION.
Crisp lager, fresh lime, Worcestershire and H-01 STANDBY.
Cold, citrusy and savoury with a gentle chipotle kick.
Think of it as giving your beer something useful to do.
Ingredients.
- 330 ml cold Mexican-style lager
- 30 ml fresh lime juice
- 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp H-01 STANDBY Chipotle BBQ Hot Sauce, plus more to taste
- Pinch of sea salt
- Ice, optional
- Chilli salt or Tajín-style seasoning
- Lime wedge
- Fresh lime wheel or wedge
Method.
-
01
Prep the glass.
Run a lime wedge around the rim of a tall glass and dip it lightly into chilli salt.
-
02
Build the base.
Add the lime juice, Worcestershire sauce, H-01 STANDBY and a small pinch of salt to the glass.
-
03
Mix.
Stir until combined. Add ice now if you prefer your Michelada over ice.
-
04
Add the beer.
Slowly pour in the cold lager, tilting the glass if necessary to control the foam. Give it one gentle stir.
-
05
Taste it.
Start with the recommended amount of H-01, then add more if you want extra smoke or heat.
-
06
Serve cold.
Garnish with lime and drink immediately while the beer is still properly cold and lively.
Adjust accordingly.
Milder
Start with ½ teaspoon H-01 for just a little chipotle smoke.
Smokier
Add another teaspoon of H-01 for more chipotle barbecue character.
More lime
Add another squeeze of fresh lime for a brighter, sharper finish.
Alcohol free
Swap the lager for a cold alcohol-free lager and make it exactly the same way.
Smoke. Lime.
Beer. Sorted.
H-01 STANDBY brings mild chipotle heat and smoky barbecue flavour to the lime and savoury notes already working inside a Michelada.
At 3/10 heat, it's easy to control. Start small if you're new to hot sauce, taste, then add more. The aim is a better beer — not an endurance event.
